Off-grid
No green meter. No export. More battery, more discipline.
When the feeder is theatre, or the roof is rented, or the tube well is in a field. Hybrid with the grid breaker left off is not the same as a designed off-grid — surge, days of autonomy, and a generator inlet have to be sized.
Autonomy
Two cloudy days × night load is the bank, not “one 5 kWh because the neighbour has one.” A house fridge+fans overnight is ~4–6 kWh usable. Two days is 2–3 packs before you touch AC.
Generator inlet
Monsoon week. Size the genset for the backup bus, not the whole DB. Hybrid boxes that list “generator support” still need a changeover that cannot back-feed.
Agri exception
Day-only pumping can skip the bank entirely: PV + VFD. That is still off-grid. Tube well.
